Joseph Mitchell, MA
Joseph Mitchell, M.A. is a licensed psychotherapist in the state of Michigan. Mr. Mitchell graduated from Lewis University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and he obtained his Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology at the University of Detroit Mercy. He has experience working with a range of individuals in various settings such as community clinics, college counseling centers, and hospitals. He is currently completing his doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Detroit Mercy.
Mr. Mitchell utilizes an integrative approach in his psychotherapy practice, which uses psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), and mindfulness based techniques. His clinical experiences include individual psychotherapy, psychological assessments, and couple’s counseling. In addition to having experience working with individuals with a variety of emotional and relational difficulties, Mr. Mitchell has clinical training in the psychological treatment of complex trauma and difficulties coping with medical conditions.
Mr. Mitchell’s research endeavors have focused on the areas of psychological development, psychological adjustment, and unique family circumstances. His research was recently presented at the national conference of the American Psychological Association in Washington, D.C. (2017).
Mr. Mitchell welcomes the opportunity to work with adolescents, college students, adults, and couples from all backgrounds and sexual orientations. He works to create a non-judgmental and supportive atmosphere to facilitate the therapeutic process.
