Dominque Crump, LLMSW

Are you someone who often feels down, hopeless, or lost? Does your mind race endlessly and you’re not sure how to make it stop? Or maybe you’re doing well, and everyone thinks you’re fine, but you know you’re just going through the motions. Or maybe you’re tired of what perfectionism or people-pleasing is doing to you. If any of those statements apply, you’re in the right place.

Dominique takes an empowerment approach in therapy, seeing the best in those with whom she works. Through compassion and empathy, you’ll work together to capitalize on your strengths. Furthermore, her therapy style takes a healing and holistic care approach. She always states that, “no one should ever feel like they are simply the worst thing that has happened to them.”

There are often environmental challenges to people feeling like their best selves. Dominique walks alongside her clients on that journey of discovery so that addressing these challenges is a collaborative experience, not one where she is solely dictating the direction of your treatment. Dominique shares, “I want anyone with whom I work alongside to understand that you do not have to do life alone; I am confident that, with both of our strengths combined, we will find solutions and mechanisms for you to, not just survive, but to also thrive.”

Dominique was born and raised in Detroit, MI and has been passionate about equity across all sectors of social justice from as early as she can remember. The first labor rally that she attended was at 3 years old!

Dominique is a two-time alumna of the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor (U-M). She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies – Global Environment & Health and Afroamerican & African Studies in 2014. Dominique graduated with her Master of Social Work degree in December 2019 with a concentration in Interpersonal Practice – Children & Youth in Families and Society. She is passionate about infusing an Afrocentric worldview into her practice as a New Leader in African Centered Social Work Scholar. She is also passionate about effectively integrating systems as a Health Resources and Services Administration – Substance Use Disorder Scholar.

After graduating, Dominique worked as a Systems Consultant and Administrator as well as a founding staff member at the University of Michigan’s School of Social Work’s Center for Equitable Family & Community Well-Being while also supporting the work and research for the Reducing Extreme Economic Inequality Grand Challenge.
