Jill Kovach, Psy.D.

Dr. Jill Kovach is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in working with children, adolescents, and families. Dr. Kovach earned her undergraduate degree in psychology at Michigan State University and her doctorate in clinical psychology (Psy.D.) at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Chicago campus. Dr. Kovach has completed and presented on research involving topics in identity formation, parenting styles, childhood trauma, and sexual and gender minority youth and young adults. Dr. Kovach utilizes individual and family therapy, psychological assessment, and skill-building techniques for children, adolescents, adults, and families.

Within her work, Dr. Kovach works to meet the needs of each client and family system by understanding in-depth about the presenting concerns and cultural factors that shape the family. While Dr. Kovach has worked with children, adolescents, families, and adults with varying presenting concerns, she has done extensive work with clients exposed to trauma, children/adolescents in the foster care system, and adoption. Further, Dr. Kovach has specific training and expertise in treating children, adolescents, families, and adults that have experienced sexual trauma. In addition, she works with individuals experiencing difficulties related to substance use, depression, anxiety, ADHD, anger outbursts, adjustment difficulties, identity stressors, and behavioral concerns (including parent guidance). 

Dr. Kovach fundamentally understands client concerns from relational psychodynamic and systems approaches which involves exploring how relationships, past and present, shape one’s understanding of themselves within their outside world. In addition, Dr. Kovach approaches therapy using a combination of interventions specifically aimed to address the client and family’s present concerns. Dr. Kovach works as an advocate for each of her clients and families to assist in navigating systems to assist in working with schools, community resources, and other systems as needed. Dr. Kovach approaches her work with clients from an open, collaborative stance and, as such, developing a strong therapeutic relationship to meet the needs of the client and family is her priority.
