Joel Pittaway, MA, LLP

Joel Pittaway, MA, completed his undergraduate studies in psychology at Wayne State University, graduating summa cum laude, and went on to earn his MA in Clinical Psychology from Michigan School of Psychology.

Joel utilizes a person-centered, trauma-informed approach characterized by non-judgmental active listening, curiosity, reflection, empathy, unconditional positive regard, and ongoing therapeutic coregulation to support nervous system stabilization, affect regulation, and collaborative exploration of emotional and relational themes.

His treatment reflects a neuroscience-informed, integrative, and eclectic application of evidence-based interventions. These include CBT, ACT, DBT, and Behavioral Activation; Emotion-Focused Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, and Play Therapy (when developmentally appropriate); Somatic Experiencing, biofeedback, and mindfulness; and Solution-Focused Therapy and Positive Psychology. All interventions are implemented within an existential-humanistic framework and tailored to clinical presentation and medical necessity.

Joel has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults presenting with anxiety, behavioral challenges, depression, trauma, maltreatment, and relational difficulties. He works to foster growth, resilience, and self-regulation, supporting clients’ well-being across emotional, relational, and spiritual domains.
