Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist

Position
An SLP who will thrive at Arbor Psychology Group is someone who:
- Genuinely adores kids and will go out of their way to build a strong relationship
- Feels comfortable at effectively evaluating and treating a variety of speech, language, social-pragmatic, and feeding disorders including: articulation/phonological disorders, language delays/disorders, autism spectrum disorder, childhood apraxia of speech, fluency disorders, voice disorders, feeding/swallowing difficulties, social communication disorders, and literacy challenges.
- Specializes in- and is passionate about- either feeding therapy, social skills development, or both! This therapist totally geeks out on reading about feeding therapy or social skills, talking about feeding or social skills, learning new strategies to support feeding or social skills, and of course- helping patients to learn to love eating or deepen their relationships.
- Loves collaboration, learning from others, and supporting others. Someone who can’t wait to share ideas or get feedback on tricky cases. Someone who is open and non-defensive. When they are presented with an idea they haven’t thought about before, their reaction is an eager, “Tell me more!”
- Compassionately gives and accepts honest feedback and has clear boundaries.
- Recognizes that the role of a speech-language therapist extends beyond the time spent with their patient. They will dedicate time to the preparation of cases, meeting with other providers, and documentation.
- Appreciates work-life balance- recognizing the importance of personal wellbeing and a meaningful life. This therapist will focus on their work as much as needed to provide excellent patient care and maintain time for their personal interests, health, and wellbeing.
Responsibilities
The SLP will be responsible for treating young children through adolescents with a wide variety of diagnoses; many of the cases will focus on either feeding or pragmatic language/social skills. The SLP will provide direct patient care utilizing evidence based practices and will work collaboratively with patients, caregivers, other members of APG’s mental health team, and outside providers. The majority of the work will be intervention/treatment with some assessment and school consultation.
Time Commitment
This position is a flexible part-time position. The SLP will contract for a minimum of 8 clinical (face-to-face) hours to fall either within 3-7 pm on the weekdays or any time on a week-end day. Opportunity to grow into a full-time position, if desired.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited program required.
- Current Michigan State Speech Language Pathologist license required.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence required.
- SLP must be proficient in the administration and interpretation of the following standardized assessments:
- Goldman Fristoe Test of Articulation, 3rd Edition (GFTA-3)
- Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals, 5th Edition (CELF-5)
- Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals Preschool, 3rd Edition (CELF-P3)
- SLP must have specialized expertise in providing evidence based feeding therapy or pragmatic language/social skills development.
- If the SLP plans to specialize in feeding- SLP must be competent in evidence-based treatments including the SOS approach, food-chaining, Beckman Oral Motor Protocol, etc.
- If the SLP plans to specialize in pragmatic language/social skills development- SLP must be comfortable and excited to lead social-dyads and groups. SLP must be competent in evidence-based approaches such as PEERS, Superflex Social Thinking Curriculum, SCERTS Model, SMILE Therapy, SCORE Skills Program, Skills Streaming, Talk about Program, Social Stars, Let’s Talk, or the Pragmatic Language Protocol, etc.
- Proficient understanding of diagnoses and ability to participate on a diagnostic team.
- Must provide own liability insurance.

- Masters degree required.
- Current Michigan Occupational Therapy License required.
- NBCOT preferred.
- OT must be experienced in working with feeding disorders.
- OT must be proficient in the application of the following standardized pediatric assessments:
- Bruininks -Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency
- Peabody Developmental Motor Scale
- Sensory Processing Measure or Sensory Profile
- Beery – Buktenica Test of Visual Motor Integration
- Experience working with children with challenging behaviors required.
- Ability to address sensory regulation issues through direct treatment, home programs and creation of sensory diets that are applicable to a wide variety of settings.
- Proficient understanding of the DSM-5 and ability to participate on a diagnostic team.

- Conduct psycho-educational and/or neuropsychological assessments for children and adolescents

Time Commitment
This position is highly flexible and may be part-time or full-time. The psychologist could schedule on any days/times that work best for their schedule, as the office is available 7 days/week. Requirements
- Fully Licensed Psychologist within the state of Michigan
- Doctorate Degree in Psychology or a recognized related field from an accredited college/university
- Significant experience in conducting psychological assessments/evaluations for learning disabilities, developmental delays, mental health disorders, neuro-developmental disorders, and other concerns
- Knowledge of best practices in psychology and psychological assessment
- Proof of Liability Insurance
