Anna Lísa Jóhannsdóttir, Psy.D

Dr. Anna Lísa Jóhannsdóttir, Psy.D is a licensed clinical psychologist in California and Michigan who specializes in working with children, youth, families and adults. Anna Lísa has a wealth of clinical and assessment experience ranging from her master’s level training at Teachers College, Columbia University (New York) to her doctoral program at the California School of Professional Psychology, San Francisco. Throughout her clinical and assessment training, Anna Lísa has had the opportunity to work in multiple settings in New York City, San Francisco Bay Area and Toronto, Canada.

She has supported and advocated for children, adults, and families from multi-level stressed communities for over 15 years by providing culturally sensitive, trauma-focused therapeutic and assessment services in home, community clinics, university and school-based settings. More specifically, Anna Lísa is passionate about supporting children and youth who are struggling to connect with and understand their experiences of both intergenerational and complex trauma, systemic oppression, identity and life transitions/change.

Anna Lísa has focused on using collaborative psychological assessments and psychoeducational assessments to work together with the child, caregiver, and/or school staff, to make sense of the child’s experiences and to provide clarity and answers to the questions posed. Anna Lísa incorporates an understanding of the multiple systems impacting the child and family that includes cultural systems, family systems, and the individual experience along with the sociopolitical atmosphere at the time. Anna Lísa feels strongly that the assessment process should be a supportive path to assist families heightening their understanding of the child’s academic, cognitive, and emotional strengths and to appreciate how to utilize those strengths to support and develop areas of challenge.
